Punishment in the Grave for Failing to Help the Oppressed

Will Those Who Do Not Help the Oppressed Be Punished in Their Grave?

The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said: "A servant of Allah was ordered to be struck in his grave with a hundred lashes, but he kept asking and praying until it became one lash. His grave was filled with fire. When it was lifted and he regained his senses, he asked: 'Why did you strike me?' They replied — the angels who were ordered to punish him — 'You prayed a prayer without purification, and you passed by an oppressed person and did not help him.'" (Sahih Al-Jami' 2774, Sheikh Nasser said: Its chain of narration is good).

Punishment in the Grave for Failing to Help the Oppressed

I said: This servant was punished in his grave and struck with this lash that filled his grave with fire because he passed by an oppressed person and did not help him. The religion of the oppressed person is not specified; they could be non-Muslim. It is enough that they are oppressed for you to help them. So, what can be said about those who pass by millions of oppressed Muslims, who are being slaughtered, killed, and their homes destroyed, as is happening in Palestine and Gaza? Then, they abandon them, fail to help them with whatever they can, and do not even feel anger for them. What will their punishment and fate be in the grave before the Day of Judgment?

A Rebuttal to Those Who Defend Tyrants

In this noble hadith, and others, there is a refutation of the lying scholar who argues in favor of the oppressive tyrants and discourages helping the oppressed Muslims in Palestine and Gaza. He falsely and deceitfully claims that the deceased will be questioned in their grave about their purification (istinja), whether they purified themselves from their urine or not, but will not be questioned about Palestine, Gaza, and the oppressed Muslims there, and why they did not help them. We do not deny that a person who does not purify themselves properly may be questioned in their grave. However, we reject the second part of his statement!
